Basket nests need to be quite large, made out of willow, sturdy, reinforced with coconut fiber, and filled with mulch.

They are used for great horned owl nesting and get installed in large trees.

We need help finding sturdy wooden baskets to use as nesting habitats for great horned owls and for re-nesting babies that fall from nests in spring. This provides better nesting spaces and helps keep them with their parents. These baskets use to be sold everywhere but finding any made with real wood is now a challenge. We need large full reed wooden baskets or equivalent. I would also love to find a basket weaving group if anyone knows how to make them. Thrift stores are our best bet these days.
