Great Horned Owl – 8/2020

This owl had electrocution burns on her face and feet. She did not make it through the healing process. Electrocutions are tricky and take a long time to heal if they survive it. We did find the problem pole, took pictures of the equipment with the pole identification number, and sent that info to the appropriate authorities at Game and Fish along with USFWS and the power utility to get the problem pole retrofitted with bird protection equipment. Protection equipment is pretty inexpensive, saves the birds, and prevents power outages.
